Official language of Bulgaria

Bulgarian is the official language of the Republic of Bulgaria. Bulgarian is spoken by about 9 million people. Bulgarian is one of the official languages of the European Union. There is the small number of native speakers of this language (Bulgarians and Bulgarian communities in Macedonia, Moldova, Ukraine and a number of other countries). But in recent years citizens of Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Kazakhstan are increasingly interested in the Bulgarian language. We will try to name the main reasons why people want to learn the Bulgarian language. Firstly, Bulgaria attracts a large flow of tourists from year to year and many travelers and vacationers want to feel more comfortable in this Balkan country due to knowledge of the local language. Secondly, Bulgaria has been a member of the European Union since 2007 and is currently the only EU country with the lowest income tax. Thirdly, obtaining a residence permit in Bulgaria for citizens of the former USSR is not difficult. Fourth, knowledge of the Bulgarian language makes it possible to get a job in an international company and have income in foreign currency, which is relevant against the background of the devaluation of the national currencies of Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus. Due to the proximity of Russian and Bulgarian languages, a Russian native speaker can learn Bulgarian much faster than, say, French or German. Therefore, for Russian-speaking guests, Bulgaria is becoming an attractive place in Europe for opening and developing a business, seasonal holidays or permanent residence. In this small country at a distance of 4-5 hours by car there is everything for relaxation and fruitful work: the sea, mountains, balneological resorts, vineyards, rose plantations. In Bulgaria there are only 4 large cities: capital of Bulgaria Sofia (it's at the foot of the Sofia mountains, about 1.3 million people), Plovdiv (350,000 people), as well as the coastal cities of Burgas (206,000 people) and Varna (340,000 people).

Learn Bulgarian online or offline (courses, tutors, classes)? Of course, you decide. In our opinion, the verbs "learn" and "know" are not very well combined with the process of comprehension of the language. Because the process of mastering, cognition, comprehension of a language is purely individual, and even intimate. Therefore we are adherents of a combined approach in which independent work, at least initially, takes 80% of the total amount of time allocated for studying language. Further, after obtaining basic knowledge, you can watch movies and TV shows, read books in Bulgarian, attend language courses, and communicate with native speakers and, thus, bring your knowledge to a higher level. This is our concept. Understanding foreign speech by ear and the ability to speak are the most important skills of a polyglot. Developoing of these skills takes time and self-discipline. Everything that can help in learning the Bulgarian language, you will find on our website. We wish you good luck and patience. Don't be afraid to make mistakes!
